Handy Prompts: Conspiracy Killer

Combat conspiracies with the power of AI.

Conspiracies can be fun. Thinking that we’re living in the Matrix is a fun break for the monotony of our work lives. However, conspiracies can also be extremely dangerous. We see this more often nowadays, where a conspiracy takes over a friend’s life and strips them of their trust in their surroundings.

Today’s prompt is focused on helping in these situations. ChatGPT has access to an unbelievable amount of information (and even more if you have the Browsing model in hand), and this information can be used to help identify fallacies and gaps in conspiracy logic.

Recommended AI model: Browsing, GPT-4 or GPT-3.5
(Access all via ChatGPT)

prompt ➡️

Someone I know believes in a conspiracy about [ DETAILS ABOUT CONSPIRACY HERE ]. Please provide me with the following.

1. A quick, casual, and fun explanation about why the conspiracy is false

2. Methods I can take to help convince them that the conspiracy doesn’t make logical sense

3. Factual statistics or studies that prove the conspiracy is false

4. Repudiations to common “facts” about this conspiracy

Please quote your sources, and provide links to additional resources when available.

what to expect

ChatGPT will provide you with the bullets asked, which should set you up for success in conversing with your conspiracy-prone friend. The additional of factual statistics and studies is particularly valuable, as this will give you information outside of the ChatGPT interface to provide.

Once you provide the knowledge to your friend from the ChatGPT response, continue relaying your friend’s response to the chatbot. ChatGPT should be able to guide you in the conversation and help you form further response to squash their retorts or logical fallacies.

If you use the Browsing model, ChatGPT will search the web for the most up-to-date information. If you use other models, it will access information up to September 2021. I find the Browsing mode moderately more useful in this case, but the other models are suitable and should provide you with enough data to provide an informed repudiation of the conspiracy.
